- Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Hey everybody! I just want to give a big SORRY for not posting many TT's and WOW's lately. Dani and I have been a little busy lately so we've just focused on our reviews and blog tours (we've got 2 giveaways going on right now!) Well finally, I've gotten to this week's TT and today I have for you a teaser from A Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest. She is an indie author, and I would really like to get this book out a little more. So far it is a very interesting tale, and I will be posting a review of it on behalf of the author by late March! We will also be posting a review for Solstice High by Ardash Vartporonian (clicky for g-reads link) within this week, so be looking forward to that!
On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.
She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine. An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.
Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.
Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.
Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?
Teaser lines:
"I stood there, trying to recall whatever it was I learned from the self-defense lessons Ben had convinced me to take part in. I had no idea if they would work on vampires, but I figured it was worth a shot--if only just to stun them so I could make a run for it. It was wishful thinking, but it was the best I had."
--(pg 186, A Shade of Vampire) *This is for e-book format read on a phone. The actual book in print is around 150 pages*
As you can see, Sofia is in a dire situation. What is the context? What is she trying to do? I'm about halfway through this novel and I can't seem to step away from it. Will have a review up by the end of March!

I guess crosses, garlic, and holy water don't work in this book. :)
